Cheetahs In My Shoes

living with the imaginary menagerie and all that it entails

Dirt is Good (every picture tells a story…)

Last year we abandoned one of our vegetable beds in favour of (?!) it becoming the Cheetah Keeper’s “Building Site”.  He spent hours building worm houses and access points for the Banana People to get under the house.  Obviously.

This year shows no sign of us getting our growing patch back and despite it being a tad chilly this weekend (do I win a prize for understatement or stating the bleedin’ obvious?) the Cheetah Keeper and his Sister have staunchly refused the offer of a warm(ish) house, preferring to hurtle around the garden doing “stuff”.  Most of it involving mud.

I really don’t need to tag all these pictures and caption them – you know what’s happening.  And yes, it did go everywhere, and yes the sink is full of mud, and yes Vanish is an essential washing ingredient, and yes, they had a fantastic time!

Snowy #SunFun

I fear I may be jumping on the bandwagon a little, but the arrival of four inches of snow overnight is obviously more than ample material for a bit of fun…

The cold tends to lead to noses beginning to run – and the Cheetah Keeper’s sister is suffering a bit from a cold anyway.  So as we return into the warm and the snot began to flow, it was suggested that a tissue was used to wipe her nose rather than just sniffing.

Cue the Cheetah Keeper –

“I sometimes use a tissue at school mummy,

but my sleeve is easier”

I’m linking this up to #SunFun which is over at Mammasaurus Blog this week

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease can we go outside???

The Cheetah Keeper’s sister has felt a bit cooped up over the last week or so as her brother (and parents) have done battle with the evil double pronged virus that, just as you’re thinking you’re over the worst, comes back and has another dig at your throat, chest and sinuses – with a smug grin over it’s little virussy face and shouting “so you think you can win…? do ya?” as it sends your temperature soaring and you back towards the sofa.

By 7.30am yesterday morning she was begging to go outside – to the zoo, to the park, to feed the ducks – anything.  Yesterday was extremely cold.  Having spent most of the last week doing so, the Cheetah Keeper was more than happy to remain curled up on my lap watching the television.  We had to go out – the poor girl was desperate for some fresh air.  So we did.

We looked for beautiful things, Green Balloon Club spots, things beginning with M (ready for I Spy on Wednesday!), animals and birds.  We talked about how old bridges and man hole covers were and we played in the mud.  We had red cheeks and runny noses and the children had to be stripped off in the porch before entering the house (straight into pj’s) and the coats and trousers went straight in the wash.  Top parenting tip – always have a spare coat!
